I was cleaning the inside of my Desktop today and i unscrewed my Heat sink to clean the stuff on top the Intel Core. But after i was done i carefully screwed back the heat sink like it was before , turned the PC on and the problem started!! the fan was making a loud sound like never before, i was a bit scared, but after when every program was done starting, the sound disappeared, i thought it was over so i started Halo the game and the sound came back. It seems when nothing is running, the sound doesn't come often. So did i do something wrong , Please help me!!!

Sys. hardware:
2 processors running - Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.66GHz
2.67 GHz Performance Rated at 4.80 GHz
959.4 MB of RAM
ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series (ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series (0x5A61))
Windows XP pro.

Thanks if u can help me ....

Seems you have got A Solution somewhere else p\'se provide!

The stuff you cleaned up on top of the core seems to be thermal paste for better heat conduction between cpu and heatsink not dirtystuff. Have you retain the paste?
