"You should apply a very thin (paper thin) layer on the heatsink with your finger before installing it" actually you should not use your finger since there is grease on your hands and grease does not transfer heat as well as a thermal paste instead you should use a flat piece of plastic like a credit card or a plastic knife.

Hi,

I doubt that using the finger would leave enough "grease" to make a noticable effect. However, using a credit card is quite a good idea since it doesn't get your hands dirty :-)
