Dear Tillman,
I'm really grateful for the useful information on this site, and would like to add my mite to it.Firstly,I have a intel P4 3E GHz cpu, on a intel D865GBF motherboard,512 MB DDR Ram. I went nearly insane because of the overheating problem. But it is slightly better now because of the steps I adopted, based on tips from various websites (especially yours).Right now, my cpu temp is 46C (idle),but shoots to 67C under load (while playing games like MONSTER TRUCK from Microsoft). But,there is hardly any significant rise in temp, even after prolonged surfing the internet. My cabinet is a thermally advantaged chassis as recommended by intel.

I have four 80mm fans, two in the front and two in the rear, apart from CPU and PSU fans.My question is :Why does this jump in temp occur, and can I reduce it or control it.Here in India Artic silver paste and other fancy heatsinks are either unavailable or prohibitively costly.I have to make do with cheaper remedies. Please help with your suggestions.Thanking you in advance--Ash |
