I bought a Celeron 330J on the 775 socket. The Intel fan usually spins between 2400 RPM and 3200 RPM depending on the CPU temperature. I found the fan to be quite loud, even at the lower RPMs. So today I bought the GlacialTech Igloo 5100 PWM heatsink/fan hoping it would be quieter.
The specs say it spins between 600 RPM and 3600 RPM. However, after installing it, the fan stays on a constant 3200 RPM, no matter what the CPU temperature is. I have gone into the CMOS and enabled the PWM (pulse width modulator) that supposedly varies the fan speed according to the temperature but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Any ideas? |
