Subject: Help with excessive Peltier failure needed!

Hi, I am conducting a thermal cycling experiment with peltiers; the temperature profile is from 0C to 100C. However, the peltiers fail within a day or two. When I measure the resistance with a DMM, it registers as infinite resistance. The temperature profiles start out amazingly well, then they just degrade with difficulty reach either 0C and 100C as time goes on. Could this be due to moisture corrosion?

Thanks

Hi,

it is more likely that this is due to improper cooling of the hot side of the peltiers. Probably hot spots form inside the peltier element, and one of the junctions between the individual thermocouples inside the element melts.

bye,
