Hi,
I'm building an inertial measurement unit that has a Pentium-133 CPU single board computer. The system needs to operate from -40 to +85 deg without a cooling fan due to magnetic field sensing sensors. The computer manufacturer has a list of allowable CPU's that contains Pentium, K6-2 and K6-III, 400 Mhz man with fan. I am looking at the possibility of installing K6-2 or K2-III dissipating low power.....
I would appreciate you comments on my options of processors and heat sinks.
Have a great day

Indiana

Hi,

use this page http://users.erols.com/chare/elec.htm to find the CPU that has the best ratio between performance, max temperature (higher is better), and power dissipation. K6-III CPUs can be cooled passively, but require large heatsinks.

bye,
Tillmann
